Thank you, all, for inspiring me to try this. I'm not quite done, but I couldn't wait to reassemble the grill to see how it looked. I thought I would "outsmart" everybody by leaving the pulldown shelf black, so that it would blend in as a part of the frame. But in the end I'm convinced that I should use the stained wood to match the pulldown table with the shelves. The reddish hood on the rehab came off a similar grill that was in better shape. Is this a Genesis 3000? I have no idea of the year because the label is worn off.
