Hello all,
New member here and just wanted to share my find/quick restoration.
Was painting a house for a client and he wanted me to throw out his old Weber that had been sitting uncovered outside in Seattle weather for 22 years.
Naturally I noticed the Chicago skyline on the hood and researched on this forum to realize this was a special rusty ol’ grill that needed to be saved.
Did a quick sanding on the sides of the hood/ respray, new ignition tube between burners, custom stained piece of wood to replace the rusted out bottom frame tube and deep cleaning. All in, only spent $10 and my time (which I don’t value all that high) and she fired up first try on the old burner tubes and igniter. Can’t be happier with my find, and I’m using it every week several times a week.
Cut down some newer Genesis cast iron grates to fit (got them for free from the same client whom was also getting rid of his 10 year old Genesis) and found a new old stock Weber rotisserie kit on eBay that worked great after cleaning out all the original grease, and re greasing.

Can’t beat made in America Webers.
Thanks to everyone who posted about these for all the help and inspiration to put in the effort to save mine.
Wish I had taken before photos
, but she was rough, was a very fun project to see how cheaply I could get this one grilling for.
Happy grilling
