Refurbing 1975-76 kettle

About to finish the refurb on this old kettle but was thinking. Do I buy the hinged grates for this or just the straight grates? What was used in the 70's? Do I keep as original as possible or update with hinged? What are the thoughts of all of you?

Keeping I would try to buy a stainless grate. For a flip I would get the best deal. If you can save a decent amount using an unhinged grate that might be the plan.

I would either update everything or restore to original as possible.

So if I was doing the ash baskets, I'd do a hinged grate. But if I was keeping the pie pan, then stick to one piece grate.
