Recommendations for Sauce Using Ketchup?

Hello,

Any recommendations for a tangy/mild sauce using ketchup? I bought a 44 oz bottle the other night and discovered that I had a unopened bottle in the pantry.

My kids are partial to Sweet Baby Ray's Original which I spice up a bit with a modified Henley rub. The only other requirement is that it have a relatively long shelf life in the frig.

Thanks in advance. :-)

Check out the homemade BBQ sauce I made in this thread:

I mistakenly used it the day that I made it, and it was only so-so, however after letting age a week in the fridge, it became some of the best BBQ Sauce I've ever had. If you like Sweet Baby Ray's you'll love this homemade sauce. It is now my go to sauce, however I made one mod. I added a 1/4 teaspoon of Cayenne powder. Now it's comparable to Stubb's Sweet Heat. Remember, try to make it a week before you need it

Hi Chuck, thanks for the suggestion. Honey & molasses? These are not regular staples in my pantry but I can borrow a small amount from my neighbor to try this out. Maybe I can add more rum instead of molasses? :-)

Can't go wrong with #5 sauce, adjust to your taste.

I had to buy some molasses, I too didn't have any on stock. There's a lot of room to tweak that sauce, I plan to add a 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne to my next batch and I did not add the liquid smoke. If you can make it several days before you need it, you will be thrilled with it. I was not thrilled with it, when I used it the day I made it, but after it sat for about a week. It's a family favorite now
