Apple and cherry on birds. Hickory and oak on pigs. Misquite on the big pieces of cow. My wife and I do not care for pecan by itself, although I have approximately 1/2 cord cut for firewood.

On a butt, hickory for sure. Apple, cherry, and, believe it or not, birch is really good thrown in with the hickory.

Here's what I use and it works very nicely.

1 large chunk cherry
1 large chunk hickory
1/3 cup BBQr's Delight Jack Daniels pellets (in a pouch per the directions on the bag)

Me thinks it was between 10-15 lbs? Bone in, large Egg. Since then I go for the costco boneless twin pack. About 15 lbs. worth. Good stuff!
