question about when apple wood is ready to use for smoke...

Hey guys, I recently aquired an entire freshly cut down apple tree and im wondering how long i should wait before i use the chunks of it in the wsm. Any advice?

Yup, it needs to dry a bit.
My concern would be the amount of pesticides sprayed on the tree over the years.
Removing the bark would probably be a good idea.

Some noted pitmasters like to use fresh cut fruitwoods.

I too would be a bit concerned about wood from fruit production trees. De-barking would seem to be required.
