Question about smoked fresh whole artichokes.

I have been thinking about smoking some whole fresh artichokes. I did a search and could not find much. I have only boiled or steamed them and am worried they might come out dry.

Any pointers would be much appreciated!

Thanks Rob

I've only grilled already boiled & halved artichokes (seasoned w/ oil, salt & papper). My toddlers love them better this way more than just boiled.

Looking forward to a report on how your xperiment turns out.

Same here. Then dip in lemon butter.

Well, gave it a try. I took two chokes and placed each one in a foil boat. The foil was about 1/3 to 1/2 up the side. I folded the extra foil back down to make a stable base. I put water in each one up to the top of the foil, and a little salt and peper. Cooked 2.5 hours. One hour at 250 and the rest of the time at 300. They looked good, but the leaves were touch and the heart was just tender. Took some photos, but not sure how to post them.

Not a success, but will try again!
