I am planning on making a relativley small butt for a bbq in a few days. It is going to weight between 5-7 pounds. Is there some sort of "per pound" cooking time to go by for a butt? Thanks for any advice. Oh, its a small party in case your wondering why I would make a small butt.

My last butt cook, 2-6 pounders took nearly 12 hours....so 2 hours/lb at 250 vent. Why don't you do two and freeze some for later??

Always. In fact, you should do two. Virtually no additional work and future benefit (go to the freezer and you have BBQ). If you haven't tried Keri's apple beans (you need to), you need a pound of pulled pork so it's good to have on hand.
