I missed the Friday special about 2 weeks ago when amazon offered the wsm for $179, free shipping, so I backed off. I clicked on the link today and noticed they are now $189, free shipping. A few weeks before, they were 199 and free shipping. That seems like a strange pricing strategy. Not sure what they are doing but next time they drop to $179, I'll go ahead and pull the trigger.
Prices of WSM, what's Amazon's strategy?

Gift horse, I paid $240 for mine like 3 months ago. $190 is a steal, who cares what their strategy is?

You know what guys, for $10-$20 I`m not complaining. I got mine for $199, yeah, I`m trying to get $20 back but its really no big deal. if you are crying over $10, maybe you shouldn`t be smoking. its not exactly the cheapest way to cook.

There are several helper sites for Amazon specifically. One I use is Amazon Price Watch which allows you to research price history using the Amazon ASIN identifier as well as track for a possible lower price guarantee.
I like to be an informed consumer. Which brought me here for the great information that helped with delivery, inspection, set-up and advice for my WSM. Already started a few mods.

Actually, those of you who said 10 bucks isn't worth it, you are absolutely right. In fact, after i posted, i almost came back and deleted that part, b/c the reality is, if i wanted one that bad, I'd pay $250. It really doesn't matter to me that much but honestly, I really like my electric unit, as some of you would know based on some of my previous posts. It's economical, easy and produces great que. I sorta want a wsm b/c of all the enthusiasm on this board, but the reality is, i kinda hope the price doesn't drop to $179. I bought one electric for the hunting camp and planned to get a wsm for home, but liked it so much, i bought a second for the house. At this point, I have too many cooking items to start with, LOL. With all that said, I stil find there pricing strategy odd. It bounces all around and like one posted said, it's only $20 and he doesn't care, but he's trying to get his money back anyway. I don't blame him, it's the principal. that's what happens when prices hop around. I still think i'll eventually get a wsm, but i'm not ready to give up my electric.

Just looked at the price at Amazon. $227 as of right now. If you click on the new and used thread you can get them from different vendors from $199 to $250. The price fluctuations may have something to do with which vendor the "add to cart" button is linked too at Amazon.
