$2.58 at our Sam's as well. That made it over $70 for the (2) fourteen pounders we bought yesterday! Ouch.

Dave, Does your walmart sell choice. All I have here is unmarked excel, so I assume it is select.

Still trying to find a source. The one from my grocery meat counter was a no-roll. Wont do that again. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Rarely. The two I smoked yesterday turned out really good and were CAB briskets from Sam's. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

You are a lucky guy! I can never find the CAB when I go to Sam's. I know they sell them, I just have had terrible timing. In fact, I plan to freeze several if and when I find some.

First time I've seen 'em there, actually. I suspect CAB must be a secondary supplier since they got 'em the morning before the holiday. Not holding my breath to see 'em there again any time soon, but it sure would be nice.

Picked up a small brisky today for an overnight smoke on Saturday into Sunday

These looked a lil skimpy but never cooked em before and thought it was a decent price

I'm envious of everyone getting 'em that cheap. Here in North Jersey, **IF** you can get a full packer, for USDA Choice you're looking at $3.99/lb minimum in cryo from the local distributor and $5.99 minimum at local butcher shops. A downmarket "urban" chain called Western Beef sells USDA Select packers for ~$3.49/lb and they often only have one or two in the store at any one time.

Supermarkets in this part of the country only carry thin flats for braising, usually no more than 4-5 pounds, and $4-5/lb for them. Walmarts aren't a big thing here, and the only one nearby in Bergen County doesn't sell packers or even flats most days.

So be thankful, folks, that where you live you can get 'em cheap and easily!

He's correct no supermarket in Bergen county sells packer briskets. And at most of the supermarkets the meat is crap (shoprite in lodi is the worst) The big wholesale sometimes sells them. I finally found one in Hudson county that sells brisket which they only had two. I paid 3.29lb. The skirt steak was 9.99lb I passed on that this week.

Josie, if you are near South Hackensack then there's Restaurant Depot. They sell whole CAB packers for $2.85/lb.

Hi yes thank you, I know but I'm not a member. You basically have to be in the food industry or have a non profit to get a membership. I hate to rely on others to get me in there. I may have to go the KCBS route to get a membership. Anyone on this forum done it that way?

Regarding restaurant depot the kcbs one day pass should be working again.

Also you do not have to be in the food industry. All I needed was a copy of our company's business license. We are in cargo transportation. There is no annul fee.
