Popeyes, Wingstop, Others Step Up Chicken Offerings as Poultry Prices Drop

Poultry supplies improve after chicken companies boost production, while price drop brings relief to restaurant chains

Restaurants that have struggled for months with escalating costs are getting a break from chicken.

Prices for chicken breasts in the U.S. have plunged about 70% since the first week of June, according to market-research firm Urner Barry. Wings and tenders have gotten cheaper, too, as poultry companies have increased production while demand from restaurants and supermarkets has remained flat, said chicken industry analysts and executives.

Chicken’s rapid price drop has brought relief to restaurant chains as crispy chicken sandwiches and wings have been key to restaurants’ efforts to generate buzz and draw diners.

So I just saw a news article this AM indicating the opposite. Poultry prices shooting up while beef is dropping............................

The article is about the price restaurants are paying for chicken.

The price decreases haven’t reached the consumer level (yet).

The article didn’t mention the price of eggs though.

White eggs my wife uses for baking were $3.62 a dozen today.

The store had no inventory of the fee range brown eggs we normally buy for eating.
With the price of eggs, they could give the chickens away. Just paid $7.22 for an 18 pack of large that look like mediums did a few years ago.

I pay $5 a doz. But, I get my eggs right from a local grower, cleaned, packaged, organic and with humanely cared for hens. They're worth it
