Post Oak Wood?

Hi,
Can anyone tell me what is post oak wood? I have looked online and Wiki says it is a member of the white oak family. I know that it is a Texas thing. Have any of you guys triedit? If so how did it differ from other woods that you have tried? And if you found it to be better where can you get it lol. Ok can't wait to see what comes up on this.

Not positive, but I haven't heard that it's any more special than any of the other white oaks, which are generally thought to be a little milder than the red oaks.

Never used any oak I didn't like though, and I love it for beef or poultry, or mixed with pecan or hickory for pork.

Thanx Dave I live in New England and i heat with wood i have oak aplenty and i wondered if red oak was good to smoke with as i currently have 5 cords split and like 2 more waiting to be split i will have to try it,

P.S. on another forum i saw where the set up like a wood trade seemed pretty cool. They did it so that people in different regions could get different types of wood just thought it was kinda cool.

Bill, use white oak and red all the time. It's a pretty robust smoke. You should be able to get your hands on any of the hard woods where you're located. I use to cut up my own downed wood for smoking and store it. Now I've got a friend who is into wood working gives me all the untreated wood I can handle.
