Polish aluminum

OK, I picked up a Q1400 for $15. Just can't pass on that kind of deal as it was in good shape still.
So, I have it pretty much all cleaned up but the cook box and lid liners are "stained" probably mostly from the oven cleaner I used on it. Generally on cast aluminum, I would be happy with just "clean". But on these Q1400 grills, it just doesn't look good to buyers. Does any one know of a good way to shine them up or buff them out to get a more even finish? Is it going to take a wire wheel? I don't need them shiny, just a dull even finish would be great.

Looks very good. I was going to suggest Aluminum/Magnesium polish, but then you would have to work hard to get the smelly residue off since that is the internal cooking area.

I think you are set.

Maybe a buffing wheel in your angle grinder and some type of polish. Mothers aluminum polish comes to mind. Back in my motorcycle days I would sit for hours with Simichrome on a rag and some REALLY tired hands :D
