Pizza!

We have a new neighbor. He is a chef at a restaurant uptown. We got to talking and he said they let their pizza oven heat up for 4 hours. So I bought a back of lump and fired my pizza oven up at two. I kept adding more lump every half hour. At 5:30,it was so hot that I had to use welding gloves just to push the coals back! Pammi made the dough. Hers was a margerita style, mine was the same, just added pepperoni and shredded mozzarella. I musta had the lens cap on my phone, because i only had the one pic on it later! But here it is!

These are the pizzas we have wanted since I built the durn thing! Cooked really quick and had a nice char! Thanks for looking!

As hot as that looks, how would it be for steaks. Have you tried that or anything else?
Pizza looks great. How did they taste?

Also, how much charcoal did you use to make that happen and was it worth it?

my jaw just dropped. I want one I want one I want one... What was your cooking temp? I heard ideal is around 800 and pizza is done in about 1.5 min!

Phil, you gotta start chucking cord wood in that monster. Seriously. You're gonna go broke throwing Lump in there for four hours. I'll bet the pizza was good, though.

Nice looking pizza!! I was always thought it took 6- 8 hours to warm up a pizza oven and once it was warm it would stay that way for hours.

Nice!!! And a nice oven too! Does it have a flue or does it exhaust out the front?

I don't think I can afford to feed lump or briquettes into my pizza oven. That can get a bit expensive.

Steaks come out great while the oven is screaming hot. You can cook it directly on the brick, on cast iron, or on an elevated tuscan style grill.
A day or two later with the oven's residual heat you can still throw a roast in there too.

In no particular order, the answers to the questions are;yes it has a flue,I used almost a 20 pound bag of Cowboy lump at a cost of $13,I've cooked some chicken breasts in there, but haven't done a steak, the pizzas cooked in under 5minutes,and it was hotter than blue blazes! Hope TJ's hels!:)

Also,I've used wood in it before, but I didn't let it heat up enough.
And all that was for two pizzas. But Pammis BFF heard about it,so we are doing again next weekend. I promise more pics!

Awesome oven. Been trying to figure out how to build one. Since we are moving in 6 months I need a portable version
