Hello All,

New to the forum but not to cooking BBQ. I have a Masterforge propane smoker and a KJBJ. Love to cook ribs, beer can chicken, chicken thighs, hot links, country ribs...just to give some background.

So Im looking to see pics of actual cooks of those of you that have the 18.5" cooker. It's just my wife and I and we sometimes entertain for 5-6 people max and even when we do that my wife cooks other food, so the cooker will be used to cook in addition, not as a primary source. I'm not going to be doing briskets or any large quantities of cooks at one time. Mostly ribs, or the occasional pork shoulder, chicken etc.

So I feel the 18.5" is the right size for me and our needs. Plus by saving the extra $100.00....I plan on getting a new Maverick ET-733 and a chimney starter( recommendations on which one to get is appreciated). Also a recommendation on a rib rack is appreciated. It's not soley the $100.00 but really what size I feel is best for my needs. This 3rd cooker will be a toy for me to cook my ribs and stuff another way. Plus my better half questions why I need another cooker. I tell if my habit is cooking Q at home, there could be worse things Ha

So for those who rock the 18.5" cooker...could you please post some pics of your cooks. I just wanted to see real life cooks as to what actually can fit on the top and bottom racks. Can I cook 2 racks of ribs without using a rib rack? Would love to see a rib cook. I know this a great cooker...the pics will just give me confidence that this size will be good for my needs. I normally only cook 2 racks at a time on my other cooker. Thanks in advance to those who can post pics of your cooks, especially the rib cooks!

Thanks

Rob

welcome. I have an 18 and have never been disappointed.

The photo gallery thread does have most pictures but it would take awhile to look through them all for meat on 18 WSM. here are a few random cooks I have done.

untrimmed slab of spare ribs

two really big ribeye steaks (reverse sear)

slab of beef chuck ribs on bottom rack

Welcome, Rob. I think you would be satisfied with the 18.5. Plenty of room for a lot of BBQ.

Here are a couple pics of a cook I did a while back. 14 lb. packer brisket on top and two pork butts on the lower rack. I believe the butts were about 10 lbs each. Two racks of baby backs will fit just fine.

Be sure to let us know what you decide and post pics in the Photo Gallery.
