My parents celebrated 40 years of marriage November 10th. My brothers and sisters and spouses all decided to throw them a surprise party, and my wife volunteered to host. Didn't get to grill as much as I'd like, but my wife is an amazing organizer and put together a menu of appetizers that wouldn't require plates or too much sitting room for a formal meal. We had about 40 people in our house to celebrate my parents, their example of what a marriage should be. They have 7 children, 14 grandchildren, and despite the normal strains of marriage and life...they've managed to set an amazing example for us "kids" and are still very much in love.
Bacon wrapped potatoes. Slightly boiled then baked the potatoes once they're wrapped. 15 minutes...flip. 20 more minutes. Crispy and delicious.
Terryaki Chicken bites. Marinated in terryaki sauce for 24 hours. Cooked on the gasser. Glazed with warm terryaki sauce and diced.
Love this last pic. Came out juicy on the inside with lots of crispy ends on the outside.
Here's a bunch of uncooked appetizers. Definitely have plans for trying the asparagus on the grill.
Proscutto wrapped asparagus.
Caprese bites. Cherry tomato, mozzarella cheese, little piece of basil and drizzled with balsamic vinagrette.
Antipasto skewers. Olives, pepperoni, salami, mozzarella cheese, cherry tomatoes, and tortellini.
"Chicken" endives. Made with left over thanksgiving turkey, peanut sauce and some other deliciousness.
