Out of curiousity


 
Just out of curiousity, what qualifies someone to be have the title pitmaster? I am new to smoking and was just wondering. Is it the person cooking the food in general or someone with much more qualifications? I'm just curious.
 
I'm not sure there's a definitive answer to your question. I believe it is given not self appointed. When you impress someone or a group with your cooking, and they feel strongly enough, they will bestow the title.
