Orange wood

Finally got some orange wood today. Got it from an Orchard in Riverside CA. This cost me $3.00 per bundle.

orange wood: produces a nice mild smoky flavor. excellent with beef, pork, fish and poultry.

anything you like tony! ;)

Seems like a pretty good deal to me. Looks like about 7 pieces per bundle. Each piece can produce at least 10 chunks I would guess.

70 chunks for $3 is much better than you'll find at a store.

They offered me a giant crate where they load the oranges for $50. I told them I bbq for a hobby and she told so does the guy who comes here to buy the crate loads.

Thanks Jim.
This is my first time using orange. I think remember Michael C in crestline using orange and was happy with it.

I used orange mixed with hickory on Smoke Day. I cooked two butts and two whole birds. It isnt strong but has a good taste. I will definitely use it again. I bought the western bags from the SPorting Goods store. Hope you enjoy.

Hey Tony, time to put that big new kettle into low and slow mode and see what that wood does for you. Sending you another p/m.

Thanks. Got to get some hickory to do a little mix like you..

Orange wood is nice to use. Not too strong, good on its own or mixed, sometimes with pecan.
There is a grove in Florida, close to where I go a couple of times a year, that gives me what I
want at no charge. I have also bought oranges and orange trees from them over the last 35 years.
I grow the trees outdoors from May through October, and bring them indoors for the winter here in
Northern Illinois. Usually 3 or 4 trees at a time, but now down to just one Naval. Almost time to go
back, check on the place, and bring a few trees back.
