a friend of mine found a grill in his barn.

Interesting!

Thats cool. Ive always like reading about car barn finds...but Weber grills and barn finds works good too! Troy, do you have this grill with you now? I'd be curious to see what the color really looks like after a nice bubble bath.

That almost looks like the "copper mist" or "westerner" color. But it could be a faded redhead. I do often wonder how long a redhead can sit out uncovered before they start to fade a-la black faded to grey kettles of old. I see thumbscrews on this one, pre 1970 for sure.

Too bad it doesn't have the top metal handle. I wonder if it was still made in Wood Dale? It might say on the top vent. It's still a rareity and will be awesome all cleaned up.

Well, given the wooden lid handle (whats left of it) I would guess 1963 or 1964 at the oldest for this one. I think the Wood Dale, Ill made kettles were metal lid handle, and starting with Arlington Heights, they were wooden. I saw the '62 catalog had metal lid handles but I don't know if they had moved facilities at that point. Where's a DeLorean equipped with a flux capacitor when you need one?

Well it certainly seems to be the same coppermist color as that earlier thread. Come on Troy! Your killing us.......pictures! Oh and by the way it's good to see they still couldn't figure out how to assemble a kettle the right way, even back in the early 60's

Is your friend offering it to you for free or selling it? I would grab that in a second. It's kind of an orange color once it's cleaned up. Send it my way!
