Old El Paso Tacos

My apologies to our SW Peeps that get authentic tacos in their everyday lives...and yeah, yeah, these could have been done inside exponentially easier than on the kettle but then I wouldn't have had the opportunity to light the grill, have a few pops and hang out with the family on the patio on this awesome night.

Anyway here we go. I'll try and fancy it up so it isn't so mundane.

Mis En Place (it looks more fancy when you put the spices in a small bowl, fluff up the ground beef and add some diced onion)

Onion in a little veg oil to start.

Added the ground beef to brown.

Drained most of the grease and added the spices and a little water, moved indirect, covered and simmered for a few minutes.

"Take a picture of me! Take a picture of me!"

Warm the shells for a few minutes.

Buffet style...

Plated.

Have a bite!

Great family meal, for sure. Can't say for sure but I think the grill adds a certain something to it...

Thanks for looking and reading my silliness.

That's taco heaven right there! Great Job Don!

The last time I made tacos I added a large 13oz.can of pintos to the meat and we loved the difference it made. We also had leftovers the next day.

BTW, the weather looks beautiful out there! The weather is just starting to get better here. I have a turkey on the 26'r just finishing right now.

FANTASTIC!! OLE!!

Looks great! How do you like the Le Creuset on the grill? My wife just picked up a couple of their skillets for 65% off at a "lost freight" store. My main concern is the enamel finish holding up to the grill.

Wow Don I think u started something here! Tuesday night Mexican night! I think some of my most enjoyable cooks are the common things that are usually done inside. Nice nice nice!!!

This. (like you said... it could have been done indoors but where's the fun in that)? Nice work.

Thanks for the inspiration, Don. Cooking things outdoors that are usually cooked indoors keeps from heating up the house when it is hot outside.

Great looking taco meal!

Thanks everyone!!

That pan isn't a Le Creuset. I'm not sure the brand (I'm at work) and it was a gift, but it is an enamel coated cast iron skillet. Never had a problem with the finish holding up...the whole grill is covered in enamel after all, right?

I hear you Don. It's not always easy, but sometimes you just have to grill for the sake of grilling.
