Seeing all these amazing, monster classic vices, my little Harbor Freight special sure looks wimpy. But, it has done all I need to hold some small parts here and there for at least five years, so no complaints.

I’d love to get a nice vise in my shop. Maybe I’ll convince my dad to part with his?! That would be ideal. It’s not old, maybe mid 80’s-early 90’s. But it’s a fine piece of equipment.

Cleaned up my Reed 204 R. Disassembled, wire wheeled and greased. I was planning on painting but I don't know now. I'm liking the raw look. I think I'm going to sell this one but I'm not sure or in a hurry.

Also started cleaning up the Chas Parker 974 1/4 but I need a 1 3/8 socket to remove the swivel base.

Saw these Soft Jaws in Amazon and thought someone might be able to use them...
At $7.29 for 2 pairs, this is a good deal on some basic 6" soft vise jaws which includes 2 sets (1 gray pair Grooved , 1 yellow pair Flat). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KY753MY?tag=tvwb-20
I bought the 4" version (pic above) a few weeks back at $8 which actually measure 4.5" and fit my 4.5" Craftsman Professional vise perfectly. Magnets seem to give a good hold but I haven't used them under pressure yet. I don't see the 4" available anymore but the 6" is. Not sure if the available 6" version actually measure bigger or not but its a very good deal in any case.

Definitely gonna look into this. I use my vice a lot working on mixers and it's a constant battle to "do no harm"
