Oiling the Performer's Thermoset Table

With the old "if you can't beat 'em join 'em" attitude I decided to oil the table on my 2006 Performer.

I was getting tired of cleaning off the oil/grease spots, so I cleaned the table, and poured on some mineral oil, spread it with a paper towel, and wiped dry.
Looks great!
I figure if the cooking oils and grease didn't hurt it, then the mineral oil should be okay too.
Should have taken a before pic, but here is the after:

What a great idea, and it looks good as will. Think about it, if my cutting boards are slightly dry when I cut fatty foods they always stain, but when I keep them oiled like I should they don't absorb the fat and always look great. I know the Thermoset is plastic, but with a fine film of mineral oil it would not absorb fat and grime into the micro scratches on the surface.
I'm going to give this go on my Performer and my Genesis Silver as well.

Please post your thoughts after you give it a try.

My table looks like it absorbed very little oil, just enough to even out the color, and doesn't feel oily at all.
I have no problem if it has to be applied once a month, but think it will last longer.

Sure will. I'm currently in an apartment with my WSM,Genesis Sliver A and my brand new still in the box 2009 Blue Performer packed up in a storage Pod. I move into my new home on Memorial Day and will be able to get my hands on them then. Given the Performer is still in the box this will be a great long term test. I will oil it as soon as I get it unpacked and assembled. I will also oil my 7 year old Genesis tables and will be able to compare.
Oh ya, I'm missing National Smoke Day by just a couple of days but I'll be out there next year.

Congrats on your new home, and new Performer David!
My guess is that the new table top may not take, or even need the oil yet.

Hi Jim,
Funny you should ask.
I oiled it again just the other day, so it held up well for over 2 months.
Much of this time it was uncovered, and exposed to sun and rain.
It seemed to make the table more stain resistant too.

Just oiled the table on my 'new to me' OTP also.
