Loaded up the wsm last night, minioned her and about 11:30 i put on a 6.5 lb butt then i went to bed with all the lower vents closed.

woke up to a slight drizzle at 6 am and went out to check the temp and it was at 300 and the butt was already up to 192!?!?!?!?!?

took the temp in a couple of spots, varied from 192-194 throughout and the meat had the soft 'done' feel to it, so i let it go another 20 minutes then took it off and double-wrapped with foil into the cooler by 7am...waaaay earlier then i was planning on. dang it.

Dang Sean, it sounds like you may have an air leak if she got that hot. With the lower vents closed it's pretty difficult to get the temp up that high. You should still be ok however.
 
yeah, probably the door. oh well, going to have to pull it now and store like that for the next few hours until folks get here to eat. i guess i'll freeze it then re-heat.
