Of all the colors........

I've been working on this Mocha Mousse color Smokey Joe since spring. I didn't expect to see it go live for a few more days, but here it is!

Thanks for your insight John. As a matter of interest how do Weber decide on these exclusive colors? Do Amazon/Ace Hardware for instance get a choice of colors or do Weber pick the colors and the retailers take what’s offered.

Thanks

In this circumstance, Amazon approached us to see if we could make this color, as Mocha Mousse is the 2025 Pantone color of the year. Sometimes we get approached by a retailer asking if we can do something unique like this situation, and other times we've come up with our own new colors and then offer it to retailers when they ask if we have anything new.

Great info, glad to have you here keeping us in the loop.

@John Burns
I'm just curious why Weber doesn't go back to using wood handles on Kettles? Seems most people change out the plastic for wood and the aftermarket wood handles are exploding in popularity. Also seems like if the wood handle cost more to make than plastic people would be happily willing to pay that different instead of buying a new set of custom wood handles. Or even if you offered them as an upgrade it seems like there is money to be made there either way. I'm just curious.

There are FSC regulations in certain regions that impact the supply chain for using natural wooden handles. Also, we're in a bit of an echo chamber here in terms of the desire for wooden handles. Many people here definitely do swap out the plastic for wooden handles, but the average consumer, who makes up the vast majority of kettles purchasers, does not seek out wood handles. We're talking hundreds of thousands of units vs a few thousand. There is also the matter of durability. Wooden handles tend to deteriorate in certain environments pretty quickly, and can turn into a warranty claim situation. That said, I like the idea of offering them as an upgrade, and it's something that's been on my radar for a while now.
