Nu-temp accuracy with eyelets

I've been running two Nu-temp sensors through eyelets for a couple years now. It works OK but I've never been crazy about it because I get very different readings from each sensor, typically at least 15 degrees different. I make sure to put them in the same distance (typically well past the pan edge and just under the top rack). I've been thinking about adding a Tru-temp through one of the eyelets or maybe at the lid, or is it not necessary?

FJ, you know with doing so many MM cooks over the years I've seen some really wierd burn paterns in the charcoal bowl. Wondering if this might be the cause. One side is burning really good while the otherside nothings really lit over there type thing. Try runing both probes through a small potato (same potato) to hold them side by side to see if they measure far apart or the same. This could help clear up some of the mystery.
