Had to go to my old house today to get a 22" OTS that I had give to my Stepson. (He prefers the ease of propane!) I look behind the shed and lo and behold there lays the middle section from a 18.5 WSM. I had completely forgot that I had Weber send me a new one when My 18.5 arrived with a ding from shipping on the top edge about 7 years ago. Anyway I brought it home and then it hit me! Why not! Anyway, still thinking this through right now. Still working on my deck and when that is done this will be priority #1. Had to turn it upside down to fit on bottom. Has this been done before?

I've got an "out of round" 22.5 WSM mid-section on a 1970s Bar B Kettle bottom... works like a charm! It's my WSM mutt...

With the mid-section turned upside down, the goo that runs down the inside of the lid and center section will now run out onto the exterior of the cooker. However, flipping the center section is a great way to store the WSM without rainwater collecting inside the base.
