Got my WSM today Fedex while I was out. Noticed a place on the carton damaged. Opened it all up and sure nuff, there was a ding on the bottom of the center section. Bent up and finish chipped off.

I called the 800# and just a few minutes later after a very easy conversation, a new section was being processed for shipping to me from Weber.

No hassle at all. WOnderful folks there.

I will be using it next weekend cooking two big fat hens.

At some point mebbe they'll find it cheaper to improve their packaging instead of sending out replacements all the time?

I had the same problem.3 Dents in the sides of the bottom bowl. I was also missing all the hardware to put the thing together. After a short phone call my replacements are on the way. No problems

I agree with Greg. Also, it's likely that Weber didn't design the carton to be shipped single to a house. It's probably designed to ride on a pallet to a store. Amazon wasn't around when the wsm and package were probably designed.

I would have bought mine from a store, but I couldnt find one around here. The box wasnt even damaged so i dont know how I had 3 different dents in the smoker.

I bought an assembled floor model from a local dealer. I just threw the parts in the back seats. No muss. No fuss.

I had a WSM arrive today via UPS. The box had a big rip and a crushed corner on it. So I opened and inspected it right away. To my surprise it appears to be in good shape. No visible dents or dings ... whew!
My first WSM arrived in a perfect box and the water pan had 3 chips along the lip. Go figure! Do you think those chips will cause me any problems later? Such as rust forming? Just wonderin.

Rick,
Call that 800 number in the instruction manual and tell them to send you another water pan. For the money you spent everything should be perfect. They make it so easy it's worth the call.

My WSM came to me as "luggage" when my friends came home for Christmas in Sweden. The carton was undamaged (though security checked at LAX!) but there were a few spots of missing paint/porcelain along the edge of the lid and bottom bowl.

Weber replaced them both via Weber Scandinavia when I had sent them photos of the damages. No problems that I bought them via Amazon.com in the US. Impressive!

One thing I found when looking for my WSM is that they are not available in all places in regards to store fronts. Had I not been so lucky as to have 3 or 4 places to choose from, I too would have gotten it off Amazon or somewhere on line!!

I agree with Suzan........at what point does Weber say "OK, we are spending way more on damaged items than a new carton would cost."

It seems like at least they could have a different carton for online and catalog sales.
