New to Weber, from Bristol England

Hi, All.

Just got myself a new master touch and looking forwards to all the tips and tricks I can learn!

I'm in Bristol England so guessing a lot of the products available will be different but I'm sure I'll find my way.

One thing I wanted to check with you more experienced folks is if you would accept the finish in the attached photos on the leg holders. I fully appreciate this won't affect the operation of the grill I'm just a little concerned about the exposed metal being susceptible to corrosion. I could refinish myself but kinda defeats the purpose of buying new.

All of the leg holders are chipped down to the metal, but I guess that might be where they rest them in the factory. One has bare metal on the parts that meet the bowl, which seems like poor quality control. Again hoping some wiser heads might be able to shed light on if this would be acceptable or not?

Let me know your thoughts!

Welcome! I agree, that looks like poor quality control. If I had bought this grill new (especially at today's prices) I would contact Weber about a replacement. But I don't have the Atlantic Ocean between Weber and me. Is there a Weber distributor you might contact?

Welcome!
I agree, those aren’t right, and Weber needs to know when things get past the QC folks, there is a lot going down the line and sometimes things get through.
And, please do let us know the outcome!
Since you are in Bristol, they should be in proper shipshape fashion!

Update - weber customer service emailed back and said to apply some WD40 to help prevent corrosion! Needless to say I wasn't too pleased with that response. I called them, they won't do anything as it was bought via a third party so I've arranged a collection via the seller. Will have to place a new order. Is what it is, hoping the next one arrives with no defects. I'll be back.

So, Mike have you replaced your ”Master Touch” yet? Third party purchases are confusing when it comes to “factory service” to be sure. The smaller amount saved can come back and bite you.
