New Splash-Proof Thermapen Question

Going to order a Thermapen as soon as I get an answer to this question.

Anybody have the new "Splash-Proof" version? Is it worth the extra $20 or so? I think it's $96 for the new splash proof and $74 for the version that most folks seem to have on here?

Thoughts anyone?

I have experience with both, and both work great. The new features are probably worth $20, but if you're a careful person, you can get away with the original version that's not splash-resistant.

Chris

Personally, I can't see paying the extra money for it. Maybe if you are going to leave it outside which I hope you don't. As long as you keep the regular one dry and clean it carefully I don't see the point in paying the extra bucks. But that's just my opinion.

I have the original version, but if I would buy one today I'd buy the splash-proof. I'd kick myself if I would have saved $20 by getting the original version and then ruined it by getting it wet.

I have the new model. It has a few new features over the previous model, but that's not why I bought it. I live in Florida, hot, humid and wet. I have peace of mind knowing that the watertight seal will protect me if I forget to bring the Thermapen back inside.
