Hello,

I am looking into getting a new smoker and really like the vertical type smokers with a front door etc. (ex. Backwoods Smokers). I like the Backwoods Chubby, but the price tag is a wee bit much. Does anyone have any recommendations as to similar style smokers to this, but with a smaller price tag?

Brady - those style smokers are indeed pricey. They are generally well made (Backwoods, Superior, Stumps) and are insulated so they are miserly on fuel.

I'm a big WSM fan - the cost is a fraction of the insulated vertical smokers, and here's a hint that greatly improves the fuel efficiency of the WSM: invest in a Smoking Jacket - an insulating blanket that slides over the WSM and insulates it.

I don't have any experience with the Backwoods, etc., but my experience with the WSM and the smoking jacket would be hard to beat.
