New Member w/ new gasser and parts questions

Hello all! I'm a long time lurker and a long time kettle user (OTG, Performer & 22" WSM) but I have been wanting a gasser for some time for quick burgers, dogs, chicken etc. Well, today I scored a Genesis Gold with side burner off CL for $30. I believe, from pics I have seen, that the grill is the Genesis Gold C model 2000-2001 vintage though I can not be sure due to the numbers rubbing off of the data tag. The grill is in great condition due to being on a covered porch with the exception of to issues. The first is the lid handle is broken which isn't to major. The second issue is that the hinge portion of the left end cap on the lid is broken off. The broken piece is still with the grill.

I have found the left end cap for the next newer model of the Genesis Gold but it is a bit different in the area where the handle fastens to the end cap. The newer end cap looks to have a bit more material molded into it and it looks like it *may* interfere with the way the sheet metal hood attaches. Can anyone tell me if the new end cap will work with the older grill?

I hope that makes since. Sorry no pics. I'll see what I can do about getting set up to post some if needed.

Howdy Art. Your question makes sense, unfortunately, I don't know the answer. Hopefully someone else does. That said, this left end cap you found, is there any way you could just take your lid along with you and see how the other end cap fits ? If it works, buy it ?
 
Hi Art! im a new member as well and found 'photobucket' to help greatly with posting pictures. just google it, and after registering there are instructions on how to post to boards.
 
I also use photobucket and once you get the drill down it's really easy. If you hit the wall just ask and a bunch of folks will be there to give you a hand.
I know that doesn't answer your question and I'm sure someone on here will know. Good luck!
