New 22 smokey mountain

Thinking of getting a 22 inch wsm off Craigslist. It's nib is there a way to tell if it's one of the newer ones with the grommet for the temp probes to go through? Like is there a different model number or anything?

When you look at it, you should see the Grommet just outside the door at about 1PM

Cool thank you the picture on craigslist just shows the box and it's hard to see. Are there any other differences in the newer ones?
 
I duno if there's any other differences. But you do want to take it out of the box to make sure you have everything and that it's not bent or anything
 
Yeah there is a bit of a technique to it. You have to start half of it in the slot, and then kind of roll it around the edge with out it popping thru. I put one hand on each side of it. Glad you got it worked out. Good score on a new smoker.
 
I have a new 14.5 with the grommet (a bit of Canola oil on the grommet and it went right in). Frankly, I didn't like using the grommet. I found it a pain in the tuckus! I did the same thing I had done to my original 18.5" and Mini-Joe - I cut a groove in the top lip of the barrel for the Maverick probe wires. The groove is MUCH easier to use, make that MUCH, MUCH easier to use:D.
