Hi all I am looking in the Chicago area for one or two black front panels for the Weber Gen 2-5000. As rust-free as possible of course. It's the panel that has the "match hole" in it. Picture below is "representative" but is not exact. Thanks for any help!

Not trying to rain on your parade, but even in arid dry CA, these front panels tend to be rusty.

Good luck with your search

Just pulled a front panel off a Summit. It's definitely wider than the one on my Platinum but maybe it could be cut down. It's similarly shiny stainless and, assuming my friend who is rebuilding the Platinum frame with a 1000 firebox doesn't want it for his grill, I'd be happy to send it your way for just the cost of postage. Of course I'd have to run it by my friend first.

Not sure if there's a way to get nicer cuts than with an angle grinder and cutoff wheel. One would have to have a steady hand and take cuts from both sides; as there's an emblem in the middle.

Thanks Roy. Let me know what he says. Could have luck sandwiching the ends with wood, clamping it down and sawing with a jigsaw/metal blade. The hunt goes on....

I looked up Weber.com schematics on a couple grills I have registered and that part - while in the schematic - does not have a part # or live link. So I just assumed calling would be a dead end. Let's see what I can dig up!

I am sure it did have a part number, but by now it is almost certainly another orphaned part. I think your only hope is to find a donor unless you can find someone dumping some of their Weber grill parts. My wife would like me to be in that position  , but I am not ready yet  .

Yup, Jon, it's def an orphan "part." Or more specifically, "Obsolete." I called and held and talked for some time. The guy was surprised I was asking, lol, about the obsolete part. Good dude though. He was actually in my neighborhood today and complained about the line at the local car wash. :cautious: . The hunt goes on....
The panel on this one looks decent if you aren't too far away from it. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/495297418644409/
Would hate to break it down just for the panel! I'd need to rehab entirely!

Yes of course, it's just the time factor. I'd also like to make slats, and Weber JR. tubes, and routered wood handles etc. I have Weberitis. It's difficult to do anything other than buy more grills LOL. But yes, I have looked at buying sheet stock, it's just that there is a bit of braking to do to match original and that is beyond my skill set. I guess flat panel would work but this is for my 5500 restores. Kinda special. The hunt goes on...

Hey, I understand what you're saying, but that panel has to come off of a grill at this point anyway. You might as well have a whole bunch of parts to choose from for your restoration. How bad is your panel? I assume you already tried to grind the rust off of it and it still doesn't look right?
