Hi everyone,

I would like to use my Weber Smokey Mini, or my 22.5" Weber kettle to cook a turkey for Thanksgiving. I've never cooked turkey before (although I have made good use of my grills for other occasions). Can I get some advice or links to some fool-proof methods for grilling/smoking a regular turkey? Thanks!

Might I suggest you check out the TURKEY TALK section of this forum. There you will find 18 pages of conversation on smoking/grilling turkey. I would also suggest you read the COOKING section of the forum for more information
on turkey.

Chang, regardless of the method and recipe you settle on it'd be a good idea to do a practice run before Thanksgiving.

With the TVWBB Turkey Talk forum there is a lot more combined knowledge and experience available to use.
Amazingribs, seems to be more like Meatheads way or the highway.

exactly! we have done a 20+ pound turkey on a 22 inch kettle for 30+ years, it's no big deal.
But, for your first time, do a practice run to keep the tension down on thanksgiving day.
Should be plenty of answers on the turkey talk forum.
plus, in short - as matthew said,
brine, dry, season, cook indirect, rest, and EAT!
and you don't absolutely have to brine the bird, if you don't want to. We did without brining for years, and no one turned up their noses.

Thanks for the tips, everyone! I'm heading out to Costco this Saturday for a trial run before all my cousins arrive next week.
