Natural Gas to LP

When i took the orifices out of the Natural gas manifold there was pipe dope around the spud threads... done by the manufacturer...Weber.

I have never in my life seen pipe dope put around orifice threads on any application. Save for one. That is on a BroilMaster which used the "hooded" orifices otherwise putting dope on those threads can and will cause all kinds of problems. Probably a nod to the shoddy Chinese workmanship Weber is doing now

Seems reasonable not to use it on an orifice. Not a high pressure system at the orifice and pipe dope can cause obstructions in small applications. But if it is working good as is, I wouldnt miss any sleep over it.

Ok a few pictures & comments
First cook a 1.75 lb porterhouse from Fresh Market.
It was on sale for $8.00/lb
In my area there’s about one decent Weber full size gas grill a year for a decent price. For $100 original cost it was worth spending the effort, time & money to convert.
Doing again would spend $15 to have the spuds drilled rather than $9 for drill I’ll probably never need again.
