My SMC is mid 1990s which I havent used in 10 years, now I'm back in the groove

Held up well with the Weber cover on it, but the cover disintegrated when I removed it, from the years of outdoor uncovered storage I imagine.

What about the door? Seems I can't get a good seal on the top part of it, where the latch is.

Any ideas?
 
I had to slightly "persuade" my door into a more round-ish shape and after a few cooks it seals pretty well.
 
What about some Nomex gasket around the door opening? I have it on the top and sides of my door opening and get a good tight seal. I also put the gasket around the top for the lid. I can definitely tell the difference now in terms of air leaks and controlling the temp.
