My second Weber restoration - Genesis 2000 Redhead

MIke, join the club. You have taken the first step and admitted that you have a problem.

I just made an offer on another one. A Genesis Gold with worktables at both ends, porcelain worktables (whatever they are). It makes perfect sense I tell ya, it's a logical upgrade for my Silver B.

I'm starting to realize I made a mistake putting any time into my first junker Silver B, good grills are everywhere.

Porcelain work tables???? I am not sure that is a thing? Thermoset, Durawood, wood, or maybe thermoset with inlaid stainless steel, but I don't know about any porcelain work tables on a Genesis.

The Silver B is just your point of entry into this thing. We all had an entry point. Mine was the Silver B, before that I would pick up junker grills, I mean real junkers, and put new burners in them. But since I became a homeowner about 6 or 7 years ago, I've gone Weber.

Me neither. I'm just quoting the Weber web site - here: https://www.weber.com/US/en/blog/behind-the-grill/the-evolution-of-the-gas-grill/weber-29896.html

"In 2000, we introduced our Genesis Silver, Gold and Platinum series. Most were open cart models, but the Platinums included a closed cart version. Thermoset tables were featured on the Silver models, porcelain tables on the Gold, and stainless steel on the Platinum."

Maybe someone can translate what they actually meant.

Yah, that is interesting. I can't think of any tables that would be on those grills other than Thermoset or SS. OH, maybe those strange raised off set tables. I have never seen one of those in the wild though.

Yah, those were the offset tables that I was talking about. I would kind of like to find one of those to rehab as long as it didn't need new "hard to find" parts.

I think they look kind of industrial tough as grills go. I don’t like that Gold version handle, but I do like the tables and the long condiment rack. The Platinum from this period looks even better.
