All this from the comfort of your family room?Making some progress. I finished detailing the frame and the wheels. I reinstalled the cook box, the new wheel inserts, the new igniter, and put the cleaned up manifold and burner tubes back in. One of many, unfortunately. Every time I open my garage door I get about a hundred leaves blow back in.Is this your pet leaf???

I know the deal. We have tons of Oak trees around us. In the fall, they drop and while I am working on grills in the driveway, the fill my garage when the wind blows. Then, since many of the oaks hold many of their leaves over the winter and drop them when the new leaves start to bud out and I have to deal with it all again in the spring. One of many, unfortunately. I don't think I ever got a dud, even with the Chinesium aftermarket ones.Brand new Weber brand piezo igniter, doesn't work.View attachment 109628
Me neither. The button keeps getting stuck down and doesn't want to release. Maybe it will loosen up if I keep playing with it.I don't think I ever got a dud, even with the Chinesium aftermarket ones.![]()
Thanks Bruce, I thought about that but was worried about just that.A drop of oil or penatrating oil. I find that usually frees up the used ones that stick. No, I have not trashed one that way. the oil doesn't seem to bother the mechanism.
Thanks, I think it's looking pretty good myself. I'll take some nicer pics of it out in the sun when it gets a little nicer out. I still need to test fire it and figure out what to do with this lid. It looks pretty nice on the outside, but a little grim on the inside and after testing a couple different ways of getting it clean again I'm still unsure of what to commit to. I may even look for a replacement lid that's porcelain, I've seen a couple on Facebook that are suitable replacements. Maybe I shouldn't overthink think it, but this reinforces why I'm not a big fan of these stainless hoods.Very nice!
On the newer stuff I sell SS lids bring bigger returns but I'm with you. I've had the opportunity to swap my black lids on my newer Genesis ii LX grills for SS but I prefer the black. I did like the SS on the last grill I sold S-345 with everything else black. That lid liner came out good in my opinion. I did get a little reckless with black over spry on the end caps though. Kind of a brushed SS look. I'd try a cup style wire wheel on your lid liner. If it came out swirly you could go over it with Scotch-Brite with a side to side application to remove swirls. Thanks, I think it's looking pretty good myself. I can definitely live with that kind of result. That's a cup brush in your drill? On the newer stuff I sell SS lids bring bigger returns but I'm with you. Yes but the last one before this one turned out swirly. It sold fine but if I was going to keep it I would have gone over the swirls with a Scotch-Brite pad with side to side motion so the scratches go in one direction. That would probably look better.I can definitely live with that kind of result. That's a cup brush in your drill?
I'll give it a solid effort tomorrow or the next day and see how it comes out. What I should do is just throw the lid back on the grill and forget about it, the outside looks fine.Yes but the last one before this one turned out swirly.
