I didn’t buy one new, but the 4 I’ve had my hands on all had that same aluminum pan.For some reason there are quite a few of these Genesis Gold grills for sale on Facebook near me, asking anywhere from $50 to $500. What I have noticed though is that they all have the small aluminum drip tray instead of the black porcelain coated one that seemed to come on Weber grills from that era. I'm kind of thinking that's the way they came from the factory. Did anyone buy one these grills new? The one that came on my grill looks kind of old and beat up which adds to my theory. I've got a new one in my parts so I will be replacing it.View attachment 109412
That's great!I also cleaned up the original stainless flavorizer bars, they are all still in decent shape. The warming rack and hanging basket were also salvageable.View attachment 109415View attachment 109416
Thanks, not bad for over twenty years old grates.Fantastic Steve! Nice work
Thanks, not done yet.Well done!
Looking great so farThanks, not done yet.
Good to know. I'm pretty positive they all came with one from the factory. It's one of those dumb little details that I find interesting.I didn’t buy one new, but the 4 I’ve had my hands on all had that same aluminum pan.
These weren't terrible to begin with so I didn't power wash them first like I usually do. It was mostly various sized wire wheels in my drill. I did lightly polish them with fine sandpaper to shine them up a little more. I'm going to run them through the dishwasher before I use them. Those grates look grate. Sorry I had to. Did you soak, scrape and wire wheel them? Or what process did you use?
It's coming along. The burner tubes look like they are still in good shape too, pretty sure those are the original factory set too.Looking great so far
I would bet they most likely areIt's coming along. The burner tubes look like they are still in good shape too, pretty sure those are the original factory set too.
The outside of the lid is pretty much perfect so there really isn't any reason to switch it out. The inside liner is in good shape, just dirty. If anyone knows how to get those clean again I'm listening. I've just never dealt with a stainless steel lid before.Do you have a spare lid to swap it with, or are you going original purist for this one?
I'm thinking that would bother me. I might try power washing it when the weather gets a little nicer. I don't think that will hurt anything. I'm also afraid to use any chemicals on it because the paint on the end caps is in such good shape that I'm afraid it would damage it unless I took the end caps off first. If you don’t mind the appearance of the swirls, a wire wheel should do the trick
Take a picture of it when you get a chance, let me see how it came out.I cleaned my Gold lid with the members mark grill cleaner and a scrub daddy. Didn’t take a pic, but it wasn’t close to what I was hoping for once all the gunk was gone.
