My first score of the new season

I have a Home Depot right down the street, but will travel the extra distance to Menards if I need wood. Their quality and selection on that puts HD to shame.
Sounds like an excellent resource!! We don't have that store in my area or even my part of the country I don't think but we have a place called McLendon's hardware which might be an equivalent.

This is the place I can fill up propane tanks for $10 on long weekend sales and they cover the sales tax.

I do the same. Menards my "go to". Don't like HD or Lowes and will only go there if absolutely necessary
I'll go just about anywhere for the best deal. Except Walmart. I'd rather not go there for anything and definitely not buy anything online from them.

I still don't know exactly what year the grill is. I'll find out when the new igniter shows up that I ordered and I do some more disassembly. I'm guessing the manufacturer info is under the control panels on these models.

What's wrong with it? I'm not seeing any rust or anything
There were some rust spots where the porcelain coating is compromised. I used steel wool on the whole thing which took care of those spots for now. It is in pretty good shape overall, I was just hoping for better. I'm not going to buy a new one so it doesn't bother me that much.

For some reason there are quite a few of these Genesis Gold grills for sale on Facebook near me, asking anywhere from $50 to $500. What I have noticed though is that they all have the small aluminum drip tray instead of the black porcelain coated one that seemed to come on Weber grills from that era. I'm kind of thinking that's the way they came from the factory. Did anyone buy one these grills new? The one that came on my grill looks kind of old and beat up which adds to my theory. I've got a new one in my parts so I will be replacing it.IMG_20250321_192857744.jpg
