they become the inspiration behind Sunday night dinner.
My daughter's best friend's family let her go hang out and help on their family farm. This week she brought back potatoes and green & yellow beans this so they become the center of tonight's dinner. Steak and chicken, and some rice on the stove to round out the meal.

The potatoes need the space, the meats got to find room.

Steaks getting a rest, make room for the beans.

The beans were outstanding!!! I love grilled green veggies and these were probably the best ever. It was so cool getting to cook with the produce my daughter brought home. I am really glad she is getting to have the experience of the farm.

Yes sir! What an inspiring way to use the “balcony” too! I use mine for all sorts of projects but not as the initial “cool zone” for a reverse sear! Brilliant!

Great looking cook. Reminded my of my mother-in-law's (RIP) canned green/yellow beans. We still have jars from up to 20 years ago. She was meticulous in her canning and even so many years later there have never been any problems. And talk about delicious! Your pics reminded me it's time to get some more out. Thanks!

Yesterday she brought back more yellow beans, potatoes, and THIS!!

Raised, butchered, cured, and smoked on the farm! Wow! I fell so lucky. One of my favorite meals as a kids was grilled ham steak in OJ and Brown Sugar, but I have never grilled one as an adult. I am pumped to cook this Tonight. Just got it marinating in OJ and Brown Sugar right now. Going to give it a 2 hour marinade, an hour open air in the fridge, then reverse sear to 145!!!

Let's go!

My daughter's best friend's grandfather (owner of the farm) said he loves to eats his potatoes and beans with ham, so here is the best bite shot inspired by him.

The ham was the star tonight and it was really amazing. Super tender, I wish I pulled it about 5 degrees sooner, but that's splitting hairs. My mother in law and aunt both said it reminds them of a cross between a ham and a good pork chop. I kinda agree. It was another great Sunday night family dinner featuring local ingredients. I am so lucky!
