Hi I brought 4 lamb rumps, & have been reading about putting mustard on b4 a rub!
question is, what type of mustard should I use??? (I never new there were so many types) and whats an easy rub to put on? I am going to cook them in the weber GA!
cheers

In OZ it is probably called mild american mustard. This is the standard.

Never tried the technique on lamb.

I have tried different mustards as a binder for the rub. I could not taste any difference. I personally do not think the mustard imparts any flavor to the bark, however, make sure it is a light coat just enough to hold the rub on the meat.

went with the Dijon Mustard with a cumin black pepper coriander rub. cooking in the GA. with a chunk of Hickory. smells YUM

Sean, I use Zatarain's Creole Mustard for Butts and brisket. I find it binds the rub to the meat very well and helps to develop good bark. I bewleive it would work well for lamb (assuming you are not going for a Greek style)...
