I have to admit that this one does bring a lot for the price. It is close to the new Weber Summit in many respects (although not the top-down infrared). But it is also a third of the price!

I agree with Bruce that going a little further and making the cabinetry stainless would REALLY be something, but all -stainless is in a higher league from this price point. The mega expensive new Summit doesn't have that either.
 
Yeah, actually given the price point? I don't see much of anything to quibble with here. Though, I've never seen mention of their support policies and capabilities but, then again, maybe they're building them so well it's not needed

That looks like a heck of a unit. I like its bold design and it looks pretty well built. I don't think $1350 is an outrageous price for what you are getting on that. With all SS internals, a smoke box, a reversible gridde, lit knobs, wifi connection, probes. Not a smoking hot deal by any means, but I think its something a lot of middle class families could purchase. And likely will be taking some of the business away from Weber in the outdoor cooking enthusiast market.
 
Interesting that they chose to punch a hole pattern into the flavor bars..... seems like that would accelerate their deterioration to me....
 
Yah, I am not on board with the hole pattern in the flavo bars, but I notice they crimp the bottom edges under and up which is where the corrosion normally starts and is worse on the Weber bars. I think that will help them a lot with keeping that bottom edge from corroding out.
 
I am starting to get worried about Weber. They are getting a lot of pressure put on them.

From what I can tell, the entire grill is stainless steel. Even the cabinet. If NexGrill can do this for $549, I don't see why Weber can't do it for $1000.

I realize it is probably not 304 stainless on the cabinet, but even 430 ss is much better than painted carbon steel on the cabinet.

I definitely agree. I think in George's day :george: Weber was able to command a higher price because their products stood out as clearly better built and better cookers. First the kettle compared to tinny "brazier" competitors and then with the original Genesis that was light years ahead of the crude square box, lava rock offerings most other gas grill makers were making at the time. Now, I think it is easier for smaller, nimbler companies to flood the big box stores with some halfway decent grills at great prices, while Weber has steadily gone the route of using thinner materials but still priced higher. I personally would still take a Weber, but it is no longer as clear of a choice.
