Long time weber performer lover

Hey all, I'm new here

My wife bought me a performer back in 2010ish and I love it. It needs some TLC and maybe some dressing up so I joined looking for some ideas. First thing I'd like to do is upgrade the wheels.. plans are well under way for that. Looking for some advice on a few things there so I'll probably post a thread on that somewhere.

Second I need to get some storage for the thing. I use the trash bin thing to keep a bunch of misc bbq stuff and it's not really a good use of the space. I'd like to store my charcoal bags in there instead, so I'm working on some options along those lines.

Love using the performer, even if all my neighbors have fancy pellet grills. I still think my food tastes better most of the time :)

Anyway, thanks for having me.

Welcome from Kalona, IA. I'm sure you will find the advice/answers here. Lots of helpful people. Enjoy!
I use a couple of plastic totes to store things in. Stack them in the garage for easy access.

You might see that shelf I put on the front there. It's a simple deal from Amazon with a magnetic back so it sticks right to the grill. I like it so far; I keep my grill in the garage so I don't really need to cover it. So my cleaner bottle, general purpose seasoning and thermapen can live there.

Lol. I have two of those racks. They rock.

I like the red rims on the new wheels. Where did you source them from? Are they metal with rubber treads?

Yea they are metal with rubber tread.

Here is a parts list:

Wheels: PINGEUI 2 PCS 10 Inches... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09DC8K3TG/?tag=tvwb-20

Sleeve bearings, these take up the difference in diameter of the wheel bore and the 3/8 inch axle: The Hillman Group 58079 Sleeve... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DYVF9BW/?tag=tvwb-20

Casters w/ locks: https://shop.servicecaster.com/expanding-stem-caster-p/ex20s314-ppub-tlb-118-red.htm

The only other part is push nuts and or collars that fit a 3/8 axle. I found those at a local big box store.

I'm glad I went with the sleeve bearings instead of trying to find and trim a new 1/2 steel rod along with boring out the holes in the frame for a 1/2 inch axle.

Really nice David! I love my Performer too. It just works, and works well.

Would you happen to have an Amazon link for the magnetic shelf? I'm interested in that for mine.

Hi David, WELCOME!!!!

Where about in the NE? If you post your city/town, we can click on it and see pictures of that city/town.
