Long Covers for WSM, Performer, that accommodate extensions.

Hey folks. Many of us now have some version of a WSM. For years now I have been running a heavily modified original one with an extension for added capacity, making it extra tall.

I also have 1 performer (platinum) that I use for most of my cooking tasks which is also modified with an extension that allows me to rase and lower the cooking surface (Caliente Grill Kit, also modified).

Then there's the other performer (gold) which I use primarily with an extension for rotisserie baskets and such.

I am currently in the situation where I am once again needing to replace covers - and wondering if any of you know if there is a provider that makes covers for performer (cart style) or WSM that are designed to accommodate extended units.

I keep my extenders on when the gear is not in use, don't remove them except for maintenance. So really not looking to remove them so the covers fit properly ;)

I'm willing to pay custom price for new covers that will fit with extenders in place. Have any of you found a source?

I do remember contacting a company that made one of my covers in the past and they just asked for dimensions. Easy for the WSM - "just make it "x" inches longer. But for the Performer carts I would need the extension built into the top of the cover on the left where the top cover and extenstion live so work surface and coven area are horizontal when the cover is placed.

Hey thanks for the tip will check it out and report back. Was holding out AFA just giving in to what's available. The current cover on my restored Genises has been holding up really well. It's labeled as covermates which actually is Coverstore. Go figure.

Brief update - my first run on the 18" WSM with 12" extention (long cover). I went with these folks for now:

The process for a custom cover has a bit of a curve but I'm a fast learner :-)
I have an order in now for a heavy duty. We'll see how it works and I'll report back

My next step is to order two covers for the Weber Performer Premium style grills. I want to work a design to had 10" more to the left side heigth to accomodate a 10" collar that we all have for rotissorie Caliente add on.

I will see how the process works for the WSM first then try the Performer order.

Not much added to the cost in terms of pricing as they already have product for both.

I have three covers from this company. [2 x 18" kettle, (1 for the JJ), & 1 x 14.5 WSM]. Very well made & competitive pricing. I've had them for about 3 years...I think. And they are holding up very well.
 
I've completed the process now for the custom 18" WSM cover now with 12" extension from Coversandall.com. I ordered the heavy duty material that has a 7 year warranty with drawstring at the bottom. I asked for mock up. Designer sent me a couple verification emails in terms of specific dimensions.

So the cover is being manufactured now I should have it 4/28. The total cost is $112 after taking advantage of a site wide 30% discount they were offering at the time of my order. I'll post up a photo and the order number after I receive it. I'm thinking if someone wants the same cover you be able to use my order number to have a copy made. I'll also post up a pdf file from the mock up process.

If this goes well I plan to place a custom order for 2 performer covers that have 10" extensions.
