Local Brats on Local BBQ Bread

I spied some bread from a St Louis bakery at the grocery store.
With a name of "BBQ Bread" I just had to try it.
It's very light and airy. Two small dinner plate size loafs weigh 8 oz.

Grant's Farm variety brats from G&W Sausage Company.
Bourbon and cranberry ginger ale standing by for medicinal purposes only.

It was a strange night on the grill.

I didn't want to junk it up too much.
Onion, hot pickles, spicy brown mustard, with a cherry pepper topper, on the bbq bread.

Dessert was Caramel Apple Salad.
I'll try to get the recipe posted sometime today.

Had to make an egg McBob with some of the bread this morning.

Mouth-watering!!

I was interested in your "BBQ" bread. It seems that's just a round loaf of bread (maybe with some spices??).

Anyways, while looking, I did find this variation:

1/2 lb butter , softened
4 cloves garlic , crushed
2 tablespoons mixed herbs (oregano, thyme, basil,
marjoram or dill or 6tbsp dried mixed herbs,
your choice of favorites)
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 (1 lb) loaf French bread or 1 (1 lb) loaf
sourdough bread

Directions:

1 Combine all the ingredients.
2 Slash the bread almost to the bottom but not
quite into 1" slices.
3 Spread the butter between the slices.
4 Press the loaf closed and wrap tightly in foil.
5 BBQ apprx 6" above the heat source for 25
minutes, turn several times while cooking.

Thanks guys!

Len,
No spices at all, just what appears to be plain old bread ingredients.
I think it would be great as buttered garlic bread on the grill.

Mmmmmm brats! I love brats, I love them because they are a great vessel for all sorts of wonderful toppings! Your toppings and bread look great! I love grilled onions, I cut them in disks like what you did and just grill them that way, oh so good!
