"Lite" Spareribs

Maybe this is the wrong forum...and if it is I apologize.

My local Cash and Carry has IBP Pork Spareribe Lite. These are for $2.09 per pound. I really want to do ribs this weekend ....but if these are garbage then I don't even want to waste my time.

Anybody know what exactly these are? Are they just smaller spares (if which then I will buy them) or have they been trimmed down (if which I will most likely not buy them).

Maybe a poor analogy, but look at it this way. Would you rather drink a "lite" beer or a real beer?
When was the last time you heard someone say that they really wanted some "lite" ribs?
 
**UPDATE** So I called the store.....

"They are just the regular pork spareribs we always have."

Uh huh.....pass.
 
I might be wrong, but I'm afraid you could be missing out...I've never heard of "spareribs lite", but IBP are my favorite spares since the the breast bone is removed, unlike Excel or Swift. Are you sure they're not just light ribs, as in "3 and unders"? At our Restaurant Depot I've seen the IBP ribs classified in the past as "light" or "med".
 
I believe, that there is no pig, like the one you have in your hand. :) At two dollars per pound, I don't see how you could go wrong.

I will go look for myself....it says "lite" in the ad. Not spelled "light" so this what is making me wary.
 
Even if IBP was selling spares with the fat already scraped off, I don't think you could buy them that cheap. I just hope they haven't started selling spares that are like those frozen flavorless little Danish ribs. Aren't those always baby backs, though? Anyhow, it was a long time ago, but those were just pitiful!
