$30, not bad. I like the bottom vent set up (same as on my 78) unfortunately because of the bottom vent setup clean out didn't always happen timely and my 78 has cancer. I've fixed most the holes with beer-can aluminum, but more air gets in than I would like (used mine to smoke) as it tends to run hot

I never ever restored a kettle and this has some rust HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The dampers are fused should be able to drill out rivet but beyond that I'm at a loss.

Restoring it is not economical. Get the softest wire wheel you can find, clean up the inside real good. If you have to drill out the rivets, but try just getting the vents to move with some persuasion (I used s wooden dowel) get some new grates and enjoy it. It will get some oohs & awes when guests are over and see it in action. Mine is up at some friends cabin in Tahoe. We cook on it but lately it's been a firepit to keep your hands warm

Maybe work on the vents first. Spray some form of penetrating oil over the vents and let it sit. Then, if need be, use a scrap piece of wood (paint stir stick), and GENTLY tap the vent. I usual place the stick on the vent tab. After the vents are moving freely, use easy off and a razor scraper for the inside of the kettle. Then follow that up with dawn soap and quad zero steel wool. That should get the inside nice and clean.

S Ricks just gave you pretty much everything you need to know. Most of that rust will be easy, but if the triangle gives you headaches, EvapoRust works pretty good. The handle just needs some light sanding, and maybe some Tung Oil. Or you can always order a new one.
One more little thing I do - if you get the vents moving but they don't move smoothly, try working floss back and forth between the vent and the porcelain.
Like Chuck said, NEW grates for sure - the cooking grate at minimum.

I looked at these pics on my desktop and yep, I still think its a Cado - and a Patent Pending, at that!
You are gonna love it. 🙂

I'm waiting for someone to jump in and tell you what to do about those metal wheels. I haven't dealt with them yet, but i have a red PP in the "awaiting restoration" corral.
If anyone's sharing tips, Garvin and I are all ears! :D
