KitchenAid Stand Mixer Attachments

It just now occurred to me that I may have highjacked the "Mixing Dough With a KitchenAid Mixer" thread. It doesn't take much for me to drift. So here I am in a new thread to ask if you folks can comment on attachments that you believe are worthy and unworthy of consideration.

Thanks!

Second bowl, beaters, pasta roller set (the real ones made in Italy for KitchenAid, we have the veg and fruit peeler/corer attachment. Can't tell you how much it helps my wife make her apple pies. There is a slicing grater attachment. I don't use it for anything except grating hard cheeses. We make a lot of pasta with ours

this has been a workhorse for small meat grinds (around up to 8# in a session):

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089VKNHG8/?tag=tvwb-20

it can run through B/S chicken thighs and breasts for making ground chicken (for ragu, kabobs, burgers, shwarma tacos, meatballs)

i've run boneless leg of lamb (costco) for ground lamb and beef burgers (chuck) with zero issues, running the middle sized plate, double grind.

i've even run HB eggs through it for eggsalad (large batch for company) single grind, medium plate and it's made a great salad.

hand wash in the sink after use. before grinding meats, place it in the freezer prior to use on beef/lamb/pork and you're good to go for any double grind.

i have yet to make sausage but might do so over the xmas break if i can grab some mental downtime.

5 stars in my book. very satisfied and happy with it.

I have the original all metal one my mm bought in the 60s and I make a coarse grind for when I have scraps from steak trimming and such and use it for Bolognese

Remind me which KA you have?

I have the same one and love it. Pop it in the freezer for 30 min prior to grinding. Good build quality too.

KSM5 325 watts heavy duty. It’s old but good. I just listed on CL today for sale.
Those are great machines (same as K5SS) not sure why KA actually markets 2 identical models as same thing. In any case they're excellent units. Generational machines. The kind you hand down to your grandkids

It’s been very good for many years. The only reason I need to upgrade is the volume issue. I often need more product mixing at a time to reduce the work time I’m facing.

In your opinion, what’s the KSM5 worth, in near excellent condition with the dough hook, paddle and whisk along with the flour chute? Color is white.

When I buy one for resale I try not to pay much over $50. My typical resale ends up at about $150 give or take. But, one VERY important thing is buried in my resale cost is I fully strip them down to bare parts, everything goes into an ultrasonic cleaner and the machine is fully cleaned and sterilized in and out. So if it was in a smoking or pet household I have no issues. Parts are replaced as needed and the grease I use runs me (my cost) at about $12 per machine. I typically spend about 5 hours on each one. When it's sold it's warranted for a full year (of home use) 90 days if it goes into commercial service. So not sure how you can translate that into a machine well used and not warranted.

Can you add a link?

we have the veg and fruit peeler/corer attachment.
This one?: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FFRR7NK/?tag=tvwb-20

This one (though it looks like there's a 4 blade version but it's not available from Amazon right now)?: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MUTSU13/?tag=tvwb-20

Don not buy any beater unless it is an actual KitchenAid made one. I had a customer actually ruin the gear box with an aftermarket wiper beater. Just tore it all to hell. Sadly no way I'm eating that repair. https://www.kitchenaid.com/countert...piece-pasta-roller-and-cutter-set.ksmpra.html this is the past machine I swear by. I've bought 4 of them 1 for us and the rest as gifts. This one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ENK4TT0/?tag=tvwb-20 you noted is the 4 piece set. I would love one but over kill. Honestly I typically only use 2 of the 3. The sheet roller and the fettucine cutter. I find making spaghetti a little bit of a PIA and I prefer fettucine anyway.
The vegetable and fruit corer/peeler/slicer you noted is the one we have. And the little slicer/grater is the new version. I have the older version that looks more like a turbo charger.
We make great use of all those things

I think I'll just start with the peeler/corer for now since I just spent some hard money on the mixer. I don't think I've ever had a dish with homemade pasta, so it would be nice to experience down the road.
