Just assembled my first smoker 🙂

Hi, everyone. I just assembled my first ever smoker. I went with the WSM 22 and am very excited to get started on my first cook, but I have a few questions.

1- My unit was missing the screws for attaching the handle covers on the lid. Does anyone know the length and thread pitch I need for them?

2- The fire door flares out at the top and the gaps to either side of the handle are huge. What is the best way to take care of this? Just bend it?

3- Is the lower rack on the 22 supposed to sit on bolts or the metal arms that also hold the water tray? When I assembled mine, the only place the rack would fit is on the metal arms, but then the rack is incredibly close to the water tray. I just want to make sure I didn't get the wrong bolts for the bottom of the arms. If the rack were to sit on the bolts the gap between the rack and the water tray would be a couple of inches instead of just about a half inch.

Thanks in advance. I'm "stoked" to be a part of this community.

Welcome Jeremy, glad you joined us and congrats on your new cooker. You picked a great unit.

1) I'm not sure. I would have to take a handle apart and measure.
2) Yep, just bend it, it's easy. Be careful and take your time.
3) The lower rack sets on the brackets just above the water pan, not on bolts.

Sorry that I'm not more help with your questions.

Welcome to the Club Jeremy. If you find the size make sure you get a "self tapping" screw. Mine was missing from my pack when I got it last year, and I was able to go to the local hardware store and get one. Can't remember the size though.

If you do a smaller cook, remember you can block off some of the charcoal area to condense the coals, for example if you are smoking a single chicken for a few hours. I love my 22, and it has performed great for me so far.
